I switched from using metal basket strainers to plastic, because the nut that is provided with the metal ones has consistently been too shallow. I couldn't find a replacement nut that is any deeper, so I switched to the "sissy white plastic" as Master Plumber Mark refers to it.
Unfortunately, the plastic ones have 3 grooves instead of 4, so my basket strainer wrench no longer works, and I have to use a needle-nose pliers to hold the top in place while I tighten up the locknut on the bottom. Is there another basket strainer tool that will work for 3 grooves?
