We are doing a Koehler Serenity tub and will have a handheld spray. Does the transfer valve automatically close when the water is turned off. This is important in determining where to place the valve. Let me explain my logic. If the water is turned off with the handheld running and the valve does not close, the next time the water is turned on, the handheld will spray all over the bathroom. If this is the case, I would put the valve where it is easily accessible from outside the tub. On the other hand, if the valve closes when the water is shut off, returning the water to the tub filler, then I would put the transfer valve next to the handheld which is only accessible from inside the tub.:

Transfer valve question

I'm using the Kohler K-8549 diverter valve and handshower hose guide. Also does this work as a push button or as a knob?
