I'm trying to finish a remodel of 2 baths of a single story slab foundation house in the DFW area (Texas).
The guest bath has drain problems. Tile contractors plumber recommends, Picote Mini-Miller range drain cleaning. It costs $1,700 for a 40 foot branch. I have not been able to find much about it on Google so can't find competitive pricing. I have a link to a youtube produced by the same plumbing company.

Have any of you heard of this and do you recommend or disapprove?

I watched your video. Why would a normal drain rodding not be suitable?

I don't know. I was just told this was much better and more thorough. It must be new tech, nobody has heard of it, but there are videos & ads, I was hoping for more discussion among pro's.

Maybe we could get discussions on referral fees, finder's fee or kickbacks also. I am not a pro, and I may be too cynical at times.

I talked to some other drain specialist to get bids.
One said hydrojet was better, that picote mini miller is only used when the next step is to install an epoxy liner. He claimed the miller range knocks holes in cast iron.
Another plumber said rodding is safest and he cameras before and after, and will hydrojet deducting the rodding expense, if line isn't cleared NY rodding.
All say not responsible if the pipe is damaged.
What would you do?
Thanks for your thoughts!

I wrote to Picote abut the minimiller, this is their reply (please let me know your thoughts).
"Our drain cleaning system uses high speed grinding to clean away blockages and any rust and tuberculation build up over the years. Rodding is much to slow and doesn’t effectively clean and open up the pipe to the original size (not to mention its dangerous for the operator to use). The hydro jetting works well and can be used in combination with our system but isn’t a good idea in most residential applications. Every job is unique. We are a large lining and pipe rehabilitation company who specializes in large scale apartment buildings and we use this set up to clean and prep all the pipes. Its safer to use with much better results. "

It looks to me as if they are saying that their system is mainly to prepare for putting in a liner, rather than routine sewer cleanout.

When does one need to do the Picote coating? pipe cracked or broken? From your search what kind of price estimates do you have for the coating? Does $1700 for 40 foot branch includes descaling and hydro jetting?
