Peerless Shower Cartridge ? Trim 3056418 And Missing Piece ?

Wondered if anyone would know what cartridge this older Peerless shower (only) would use. The number on the trim is stamped U. S. PAT.

3056418 I did not want to take it out if I cannot find a replacement. Also there is some space between the handle and the rest of the trim (please see picture). This space lets water in between the acrylic handle and the trim. I was wondering if a piece is missing. Thanks in advance for your input.

NONE of the pictures show us what we need to know, namely what the valve UNDER the handle looks like. You probably have a "ball" with a diamond shaped handle, in which case there is NO "cartridge" just few pieces to replace.
