I have a Tori 1109-A timer in my garage that controls my 4 outside post lights along my driveway. The motor seems to be failing as it is no longer keeping time correctly. I had searched for a replacement motor and ordered the one I could find but it didn’t match up to the old one exactly and couldn’t be properly attached to the unit. So I think I would like to replace the entire unit.

My question is whether I need this type of timer in the first place? It is bulky and seems designed for outdoor use. Since I’m using it indoors can’t I go with a timer that goes inside a regular outlet box? I would also prefer a digital timer than one with pins that trip the on and off switches. The pins have constant vibration from the nearby garage door and from time to time come loose thereby causing the lights to stay on or off until I get to retighten them.

Yes, the Intermatic in-wall timers are great. Just add up your total wattage to make sure the Intermatic can handle it. They even self adjust to the sunset and sunrise times when you select your region and DST as well.
