Hi everyone,
I’m trying to figure out a loud noise issue from a copper pipe at the front of my house.
There is an outdoor hose bib connected very close to the main water supply line entering the house. Whenever I turn on this faucet, especially with higher flow, the copper pipe makes a very loud noise/vibration. I already checked the water pressure, and it is under 60 psi, so it doesn’t seem excessively high. The sprinkler system is connected to the same supply line, but when I run the sprinklers, it doesn’t produce nearly as much noise
Could this be caused by the pipe size transition? I suspect the line may have been reduced from a larger supply pipe down to a 1/4" copper pipe. Could that restriction create turbulence or vibration noise?

Other details:
- Noise happens only when water is flowing
- The sound seems to come from the copper pipe itself
- House water pressure otherwise seems normal
