Hello,
Our water heater went out and I had a local company replace it. I also had them re do some water lines that connect to it and a recirculation pump installed.
Once they installed it and left I realized water was coming out of my sink cabinet. This is where they installed the, not sure what is called, thing that goes with the recirculation pump. Anyways they came back and replaced the two metal hoses and no more leaks.
Inspector came said strap wasn't correct and needed to go up higher. Had company come fix that. While the guy was here I told him that I noticed the hot water was mixing with the cold water when coming out of the sinks. Didn't have this issue before they did the work.
The guy said it was probably the thing under the sink and it just needs to be replaced. Then he mentioned a worse case scenario which would be that someone combined a galvanized pipe and a copper pipe and he wanted to look under the house. He mentioned the pipe in the picture being galvanized, a pipe this company had attached to copper pipe. He wanted to look for damage on pipes under my house. I didn't have time and said I would make an appointment. I don't trust this company and want to check their work. After him mentioning the galvanized pipe and copper pipe I'm wondering if they did it right? I can't tell if they put brass between or if it is my ore copper. After researching I know they need to have a different metal in-between them when connecting them but I can't tell if they did, it's so blended together. I don't know that the guy was saying this was incorrect but for my own sanity I just want to make sure it is. Just the fact they didn't make sure there were no leaks with the under the sink thing before leaving not placing the strap correctly on the water heater and the fact the guy was really pushing to go under my house makes me concerned about their work. The guy even insinuated that it was stupid the inspector had them fix the strap. What I thought was stupid was that as a professional licensed company they should know it is supposed to be 4 inches not 2 inches away from the ignition box. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to give back round on why Im concerned about their work.
