Older shower faucet is leaking. Here’s a picture. It doesn’t look like it has a pin on top to remove. The sleeve around the stem is welded on and I can’t see a cartridge. I’ve got a core puller coming and could use some advice on how to get the stem and cartridge out to replace. Thank you!

To remove the stem and cartridge from your old shower valve, start by turning off the water. Look for a small clip that might hold the cartridge in place. If it’s stuck, apply some oil to loosen any rust. When your core puller arrives, attach it to the stem, and pull it out gently but firmly. Some valves have a sleeve around the stem that can be unscrewed by turning it counterclockwise. Be careful not to force anything to avoid damage, and if it’s still stuck, you might want to call a plumber for help.
