We're getting our house ready to sell. I bought 5 Price Pfister faucets to go on the 5 sinks in our 3 bathrooms. My husband has already replaced two faucets with no problems. In our master bath, though, one of the faucets has huge yellow rings in the spots where the handles/flanges used to be. I've tried Mr. Clean Magic eraser, soft scrub, comet, and bleach. Nothing has even touched the stains. The new levers/flanges are much smaller than the old flanges. I guess my questions is this. Is it possible to get a bigger satin nickel flange that will still coordinate with these price pfister handles? I have no idea how to go about doing this. Help please! Here's a link to what I've purchased. (By the way, I bought these from ****, so they can't be returned. Also, my husband's already completed installation on one of the master sinks. Strangely, there were no stains on that one. If we have to go with a different faucet set altogether, we'll lose all our money on both of the ones in the master bath, plus the time he spent installing the first one. Then, we'll have to buy new ones as well. AAARGH! Please help me find a solution!

Normal plumber's putty has oil in it, so yes. The oil will leach out and potentially stain things. There are some specially made without oil that can be used. Some faucets come with silicon rubber gaskets, and don't need any putty at all. You might try a poltice, but the results are not guaranteed at all. Check out www.johnbridge.com, they have some specialists that can describe how to do it, and give you an idea if it has a chance of working...don't get too excited, it may not work, but it shouldn't cost too much to try.

stain

Often the stain is merely because the portion under the valve's escutcheon has been shielded from sunlight, cleaners, and other exposure which can change the color of the material.
