I opened up the motor cavity of my Little Giant 5-MSP (#5050025) 1/6 HP submersible pump, and lost ~1/2pt. of an oil/water fluid mixture. I'm certain that only oil should be present in the motor cavity, but am unsure of the volume of oil desired/required.
Can anyone tell me approximately how much oil to add to reach the proper "fill level" for this unit? 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, or completely full? I am aware that this is a "non-serviceable" pump motor, but it runs quietly, pumps water off of a pool cover once each Spring, and does what I need it to do; i.e., I can't justify purchasing a replacement pump if I can keep this one operating by simply refilling the motor cavity with a sufficient quantity of dielectric oil.
Thank you, Russ
