My nortiz on demand heater gives a code 90, not sure if it has always done it as the previous owner just put in the unit before we bought the house, it does it more in winter then summer but has always done it.
Had a plumber look at it and he thought (s well as another friend who is a plumber) that a make up air intake may help. He also noticed it did not kick off and give the code 90 until we put the cover back on. The flame is a nice blue color.
WE tried leaving the cover off for a couple of weeks and the unit never gave a code 90
I put a 6" line in. put the cover back on and now get the code 90 again. Leave the cover off and no code 90.
I am concerned about too much dust getting in it. I did read online where a plumber used spacers and longer bolts for the cover to keep it off the unit and allow more air in.
I wonder about removeing the inner skin, drilling more of the holes out and putting a filter fabric over them on the inside to let more air in. Do you think this would work?
Any ideas?
TIA
