Hi,

Our house was built in 2006 and I believe the bathtub is original to the house. The bathtub is upstairs. So a couple of things:
  • We get hot water in the sinks and shower, but not bathtub
  • Cold water in the bath tub works
  • But as you start turning handle the hot side, the water pressure decreases until it stops until no water comes out. The water doesn't even get luke warm
My immediate gut feeling is a faulty cartridge, but I am wondering what other nefarious things could be happening if it isn't either the valve or cartridge.

Are you saying that you used to get hot water in the shower, and now all of a sudden you don't?

I would guess that the cartridge needs replacing. I had the same issue with a Moen Posi-Temp in a building about that age. The cold was fine, the hot wasn't. Changing the cartridge fixed it.

If it's a separate tub, it may have a tempering valve in the lav (sink) cabinet that controls the temperature going to the tub.
