I am remodeling a bathroom and need to move the drain line over (through two 2x4s) and was hoping to also get rid of the soffit that has the vent pipe through it. Is it ok to drill the holes in the 2x4s to run the 1 1/4” drain/vent pipes? My worry is there will only be about 3/4” of 2x4 left on each side of the pipe hole and it’s a load bearing wall. Is that ok? Could I notch one side and use a stud shoe? Thanks in advance!
