Im new to all this. First, what is the best way to determine the correct depth of the drain linkage system?
Also, I have a sterling ensemble tub. Do I just set it on the subfloor? How does it get anchored in? If its not level, whats the best way to level it?
Appreciate any help for this bathroom noob!!

Your questions are often covered in the tub's installation instructions. It needs to be level, or you'll have perpetual problems. You can set it in a bed of wet mortar, stuckolite, or various other substances. Normally, the edges need to be supported by a ledger board. If you set the ledgers so they are level, when you smush the tub down into the mortar, you'll know when to stop. The rim needs to be level both L-R and F-B. There's often a flange on these, and the clips may be to hold it to the studs...it should be covered in the instructions. On some, you use either a screw with a large washer or a roofing nail into the stud with the head over the flange to hold it in place. Normally, once you get the drywall or cement board up, and tile or whatever depending on if it is also a shower, that eventually locks it all in place along with gravity.

okay, I just watched a video @ sterlingplumbing.com. The clips hold it to the surround, and once the surround is attached to the framing, everything is secure. Thanks for the reply. Any info on the correct depth of the drain linkage? I know its important not to have it hang too low or too high, but what's right?
