We recently discovered our toilet was leaking underneath. We removed the toilet and hired a tile guy to repair the sub floor and install new tile. However, when I inspected the floor install, I see the tile is about half an inch ABOVE the toilet flange and is not cut round to surround it, leaving gaps.
In doing some research, it sounds like the flange should be ABOVE the tile, and I am thinking the tile should be cut so the flange extends over it so there aren't big gaps between the flange/floor pipe and the tile floor.
Can someone please offer advice as to what we should do? I saw something about buying a flange extender, though I'm concerned that may not be enough to get it above the tile, and there would still be the gaps around it as described above.
Thank you,
TB
