I have a very old sand point well, probably 45 years and was told it was 12 feet from bottom of pit, pit is 8 feet.

Using 20 gallon pressure tank and 3/4 hp shallow well pump. Pump is about 200 feet from house. Pump and tank 8 years old. Pump set at 30/50 and tank is 28.

Pump kicks in at 30 off at 50. If continually running water pump on at 30 but pressure drops to 10psi as long as water faucet remains open. When closed pressure slowly builds up as it should.

So...is this signaling the drive point needs to be deeper??

No air in lines, no sputtering, water remains crystal clear...

I know I can get help and undo current pipe to get a water level but unsure if will be able to reconnect being its soo old. Hoping to avoid that situation.

Are you using the sand point in a pit where the water is being sucked in from a water area above the bottom of the pit, or are you using a sand point driven below the bottom of the pit and sucking the water out of sand?

If this is driven into sand, the sand point could be clogged. You might just need a new sand point driven to the same depth. Or maybe you would be better to add a second sand point, and suck from both at the same time.

Sucking water out if sand, driven straight down bottom of pit. So from ground level probably 20 feet down.
Haven't had a lot of rain/snow for last 4+ years.
Would driving a new point a little deeper provide more water?
When driving it down how much water depth should we shoot for when using string with washer? 3 feet or go more?
