New pump looses prime

i have a well down here in mexico that is 20 meters deep with plenty of water.the old above ground pump was getting weak so i bought a new one.it`s the same 1 hp siemens pump as the old one .it stars to pump water and then water would stop after a couple of minutes.i have to prime it again and star all over.i `t must be a vacumn leak or maybe the wiring is bad. any suggestions ?

Suction leak would be the most common cause of that problem. If is was a loose wire the pump would not be running. Suction leak is usually right where a plastic fitting is threaded into the pump.
