I am in Iowa. Wife is in Washington caring for her father.

Her Father's upstairs tub had a slow drip, causing some water damage on the ceiling of room below it.
Wife just had a plumber come out to repair the leak. He cut a 13x13 hole (appx) in ceiling and replaced the p-trap.
Problem now is that the p-trap protrudes below the drywall ceiling. Wife guesstimated 1", but pictures look closer to 1/2" below the drywall.

Wife didn't notice it until they left. She called company, and they are sending someone tomorrow to look at it.

Any suggestions?

Thank you
