I'm installing a new dishwasher for my new girlfriend and need help.

I disconnected the old one, drain hose, etc. Problem I ran into was disconnecting the plastic hot water line running to the dishwasher. It looks like a quick connect fitting, but it wont disconnect, almost like it is glued or not meant to be disconnected. Has a on/off turn but wont disconnect. Should I turn off the water to the house and cut it and connect a Shark Bite? Or am I doing something wrong as it wont come undone at all or am I just missing doing something?
Thanks.

Is that 1/2" PEX? If so a Sharkbite push fitting might be nice to install there after you have turned off the water for the home.
I have not see a fitting like that before.

Terry, yes 1/2" pex I think. I'll check out the shark bite.
Yes neither have I. I'm only 39 but havent seen thse new plastic lines and fittings and no valves under the sink on the line. I'm so confused as to why it wont disconnect as it looks like a quick detach fitting disconnect. But no, its solid and wont even turn at all.

Just to cover the basics, do you have the water turned off before trying to disconnect that? Do you have the hot water drained down through another faucet so there's no pressure on the line?

I'm not sure what that is either, but it looks like a male and female connection made up to be like a union, and I know pressure in a line can make it rather difficult to unthread some connections like that. So that's a thought.

But yeah, cut it out, and replace it with a valve in there if there isn't one.

How's that line connected to the dishwasher then? And will that work for the new one, or are you just planning on connecting a new supply to a new stop?
