Just wanted to say thank you 1st to all those on this site. It's amazing how many times I'm looking for something online and this site pops up, GREAT ADVISE!! And also, let me say sorry for being the noob with questions, but I'm hoping thats why this forumn is here.

Anyway, finishing out a cabin in MT and am trying to do the plumbing, water and electrical myslef. Basically trying to learn how this stuff works so I can make repairs and understand the proccess since we will now have 3 cabins/ houses we own and rent out, possibly a 4th in the works. This particular cabin is a 14x20 studio with 1 full bath, kitchen sink and tankles electric hot water. It will be used heavily from June-Sept and then just randomly/ rarely the rest of the year.

Also, for what it's worth, we live in an area where there is no code inspection/ permiting system. I have been trying to understand & follow as best as possible, but I'm wondering if there are situations where I might not be in compliance and if that will truley matter?

Trying to begin the waste plumbing, still have fresh water & electric, and while I have done lots of research I am no plumber. Comming up with a question on venting. I will install an AAV for the island kitchen sink. The toilet DWV line runs about 40" and then will connect with the bathroom sink DWV line, then run another 16" and a 3x3x2 y installed for venting. This vent pipe will run below the floor joists and exit the crawl space and run vertically outside of the cabin. First, will this set-up work for the toiket & bathroom sink? Second, I was hoping to tie-in the shower drain vent to this vent line and avoid having to run a line through the roof or having to add another exterior vent.

I'm finding out this is typically not allowed. Tying vents together below the fixtures. Will i really run into a problem here, or will this actually work and it's just not up to code?

Not the best drawing, I know... :-(

AAV above the sink (lavatory) santee also wet vents the toilet. OK so far.

Then downstream, you have the "shower vent". Do you mean the shower drain, and the "vent exterior" dry vents the shower? If so, the area where you have that tee-looking thing area will need some clarification and improvement.

You don's show the kitchen drainage.

I am not a plumber.

Thanks for the quick relpy!!

Lets see...
Yeah, I was thinking of adding an AAV at the bathroom sink, just didn't know if it was needed since there is a dry vent down stream for the toilet & sink?

As for the shower, the drawing doesn't really show it, but the shower drain will eventually tie into the main sewer line. about 4' from the shower drain I will install a 2" y. I will then connect a 2" pipe to the y junction that will run to the "dry vent" from the drawing with the t-fitting. This vent basically connecting the toilet, sink and shower; all connections under the floor joists ,and then exiting the crawl space to the exterior where it will turn vertically and run above the roof line.

Guess my big question is if making all the vent connections under the fixtures will work, or if I'm missing something. I seem to keep reading that you need to make any vent connections 6" above the flood plain of the actual fixtures.

Here is another drawing...about as good as the 1st????!!!! ;-)

Lavatory (bathroom sink) needs a vent above. That can wet vent the toilet if there is a thru-the-roof vent in the system.

New drawing seems to have disappeared.
