I need help with polybutylene pipes.
I know they need to be replaced, but right now, that’s not an option.
We want to replace the countertop and faucet.
The shutoff valves are 30 years old, and have never been replaced, or used.

I would like to replace them.

I know they make PB to PEX adapters. And I believe the make some SharkBite adapters.

How would you handle the situation?
Thanks!

Typically, the compression nut and existing compression ferrule, will work with a new, quarter turn modern angle stop.
However, I would suggest when the top is off, to open the wall and replace all water piping into the crawl space.
Check your drain height as well bc most new sinks tend to be deeper than old and it is an ideal time to lower the drain when the wall is open. 15" is sometimes too high.

I’ll try that first! I have a slab floor, so I don’t have many options. Thanks for the reply!

F*CK SHARKBITES. That old qwest is brittle and you're thinking to put a sharkbite on it! are you f*cking nuts!

get a pex-to-qwest crimp coupling. (pex = 3 letters = 3 rings on the fitting; qwest = 5 letters = 5 rings on fitting)

Take a 3" piece of pex. crimp on your pex style angle stop (both hot and cold)
Now crimp the pex side onto both make-up pieces
you should have an angle stop on one side and a pex coupling on the other.
(if you build the piece before you get under your cabinet, you'll only have two crimps in that tight-ass space)
Cut the grey qwest pipe (carefully. don't crush it)
slide your crimp ring onto cold and crimp it in
do the same with the hot side
bam!
done
