Forum looks great, when I purchased my current home it had this system in it and it seems I can not figure out how to correctly set this. I run off well water and is very yellow still, can someone help me figure out the correct settings for this? Thanks

I see the clock thought it was about 4:45 AM when the photo was taken.

  1. How big is your tank-- 54x10, or what?
  2. How hard is your water?
  3. City or well?
  4. How many people using the soft water?

Fixed the clock setting, think it got off when we lost power a couple weeks ago.

Not sure on tank size that’s why posted photos for rough idea it’s about 4 foot tall.

HARD, about 10 grains/gallon
Well water
4 adults 2 teenagers.

Use a tape measure for height.
For diameter you can measure the circumference and divide by pi. Round to even inches.

38” tall by 17” wide is the one attached to the main unit, the backwash unit has a 30x14 container.

Unusual size. I don't have data on that.

17 inch diameter would be about 54 inches circumference.

Not sure what a 'sale' tank is.

Describe the purpose of each unit. We assume one is a softener but as both have brine tanks, not sure which one. Is salt placed into both brine tanks or is there a different regenerant placed into one? The requested dimensions pertain to each media tank, not the brine tanks.

The hardness quantity requested is as tested at your location. A softener cannot be properly programmed using a hardness or iron estimate.

The thing I marked dimensions on, and the thing that the valve is atop, is usually called the mineral tank or resin tank or media tank. The thing you put salt into is called a brine tank. The brine tank measurements would not be important for setting up the dials on the softener.

Thanks for the explanation.

So the resin tank on the left is 4’6” tall by 14” diameter. The resin tank on the right is 4’6” by 10” diameter.
The left tank has the dials and the right I believe is a backflush?? Both brine tanks have always been filled with salt, from the explanation I got one is to help get rid of tannins and another softens the water.

Does that help, sorry gents don’t know the first thing about these systems. I appreciate any feedback

4’6” tall by 13” diameter (with probable 2.5 cuft of resin) seems more probable than 14. What is the circumference?

The black tanks have a small white sticker at the bottom, please post a picture of the sticker. This will have the tank dimensions we need.

Large tank: 13" diameter X 54" tall, suitable for 2.5 cuft of media
Smaller tank: 10" X 54", suitable for 1.5 cuft media

I run off well water and is very yellow still,
Yellow is probably the tannins, and I don't know about that. Is the 5600SXT first in line?

If the Econominder is the softener, here is what I am thinking--

ECONOMINDER System info
salt lb/cuft = 8.0 ; A choice ( efficiency vs capacity)
cubic ft resin = 2.5 ; Same as (nominal grains/32,000)
Raw hardness = 11.0 ; including iron etc
Comp factor = 1.07 ; High-hardness compensation factor
H compensated = 11.8 ; Hardness grains after comp factor
Capacity of resin = 60.0 ; capacity in 1000 grains
Gallons total = 5096.6 ; Gallons without considering reserve
Estimated gal/day = 360.0 ; 60 gal per person typical calc
Est days/regen = 14.2 ; presuming days each use reserve capacity

ECONOMINDER Settings:
LBS.OF SALT = 20.0 ; Brine cam in back, pounds of salt
White Dot gal x1000 = 4.74 ; Pull clear wheel to set
*** Note that I am assuming that your wheel is in x1000... Your white dot is currently at about 5.66, it looks to me.

The manual at the link above does not appear to indicate that. The parts schematic seems to show the brine cam at the front of the 2510 control valve.

The manual does describe how to program the Brine Fill time on the time clock controllers, but I cannot locate where it describes the brine setting adjustment for the Econominder controller.

The capacity setting is in gallons similar to the 5600 Econominder so the person programming must manually calculate the capacity from the volume of resin at the chosen salt dose, divide that by the compensated hardness amount, and then subtract the reserve capacity so as to arrive at the appropriate gallons capacity setting.

Awesome and how about the hardness dial in the middle where should my setting be for 4 people? I can adjust it and then set the white dot, I am assuming that’s how I am supposed to do that at least.
