Hello! I am new to this forum and hope I can get a few opinions on this.
Our family is trying to decide on the proper size model of Kinetico water softener. The water specialist guy recommended one, but I feel we could go a step down since there are only the two of us in the home.
Even if we use a little more water than average. We only have a bath and a half.
We are going with the premier series as it has a solid warranty (10 years parts and labor)
We live in a rural area and our hardness is 18 gpg so very hard water, little sediment, no iron or sulfur issues. the water actually tastes and smells fine we have a bad calcium/magnesium buildup on fixtures and it is contributing to eczema skin and scalp issues.
We are on a well and our pressure tank is 10 gpm, newer well 175 feet deep installed in 2014. House is a tri level from 1972 with mostly crawl space where the well tank is so they will need to run a new line across the crawl space to the finished laundry room area on the other side of the house. We are opting for non electric as we only have one outlet and it is taken up by the washer and dryer and one of our family members owns a Kinetico which is thirty years old and still going strong.
The kinetico guy is recommending the premier 2060s but I feel the 2030s should be perfectly fine and it costs a few hundred dollars less. we are having a bypass on the outside water, not sure on the kitchen water cold. we do not have osmosis, we drink bottled water. We have a septic system in addition to the well.
My concern also is the flow range as our well pressure tank is 10 gpm so if the softener flow range is much higher like on the 2060 he recommended, isn’t that going to effect the well pressure tank negatively?
