Hi, our HOA has well that has a 4 inch line from the pump. It has a 40 GPM 6 HP submersible pump on it. That setup is currently used to keep the pond at a desired height. We’d like to add a sprinkler system coming from this well to irrigate some trees we are planting and run a zoned sprinkler system around the pond behind the houses. How can we achieve this would we add a pump and drop another one next to this in the same casing or is there a better solution that someone can share?

Never heard of a 6HP submersible pump? should be either a 5HP or 7.5hp. That pump may not build enough pressure to run sprinklers. You will need to know more about the pump or do a bucket test. If the pump can build enough pressure and has a check valve installed, adding a Cycle Stop Valve, pressure switch, and small pressure tank will make it work automatically. Then either the sprinklers coming on or a water valve opened to the pond will start the pump.

Thanks, I was given some information by word of mouth, but now have confirmation that it is a 7.5 HP pump on 3 inch drop lock pipe with a 500 GPM pump end. That was from the receipt on a recent repair. I think it’s probably 500 GPH and the M was a typo. More about the well it’s 45 feet deep the water sits at 17 feet deep.
It does have a check valve on it at the bottom. Is that what you meant?
