We currently have the GE GXSH40V water softener and I think it was crapped out on me. Below are the current water levels in based upon the test I did yesterday:

Total Hardness: 250 ppm
Total Chlorine: .5 ppm
QAC/QUAT: 40 ppm
Sodium Chloride: 500 ppm
Total Alkalinity: 180 ppm
Carbonate: 80 ppm
PH: above 7.6 ppm

I need recommendations on a new water softener. I was looking at the Fleck 5600 SXT Whole House Water Softener. Our home is 4300 sq feet with 5 bathrooms. We have 3 persons in our family as well. In addition, I’m posting a picture of the current piping to GE water softener. I would like to do it myself if possible. Any recommendations would be helpful including where to buy the softener and plumbers in my area.

Thanks!

Ge water softeners are pure dog crap but are cheap and people buy them
because they will last about 5 years and then break down

You should be looking into a CLACK 48,000 grain water softener ...
if you only have 3 people living in the home it is more than sufficient...

The Clack has surpassed the Fleck a long while back and is probably the most
popular in our region .... We have installed probably around 1000 of them since
2006 and have never had to return for any reason over the years.....

the only issues we have ever had with them was high levels of Chlorine which
eventually destroy the resin bed in around 10 years more or less... which is
not really the controls fault....

so you want to get the most chlorine resistant resin you can buy its a #10
