So I'm looking to install a flat bottom vessel sink. I still need to have the countertop made and wasn't sure what size hole to have them drill. Laying the vessel on a flat surface I can see about 3/8 gap from the counter to the bottom of the drain hole. Do I install the pop up drain and Tighten the nut on the underside of the counter? Or do I cut a larger hole and just mount the pop up only on the vessel? Just wondering because if the drain was to leak with the first option, it would just pool between the sink and countertop. Where as with option two the bottom rubber would seal any leaks coming from the top seal. Thanks

Pop-up assemblies are tightened onto the sink itself.

Just drill a hole centered, and large enough to give you some working wiggle room so you can have your sink sit nice and centered in the end. The hole should give some room around the assembly for service down the line, too.

Keep in mind, you'll need a hole, or holes for your faucet, too. Single handle? Widespread? Your faucet should list the specs required.

Sweet thanks Dave. I did think this was the more logical route. Just couldn't find any diy videos on flat bottom sink. We are going wall mounted for the faucet. Also floating vanity.... The wife has made this project as difficult as possible for me... Lol
