Molding around bottom of chipped free standing tub

Contractor installing acrylic free standing tub chipped the base - ( no threat of leaking - just cosmetic issue) now wants to give me allowance and cover the chipped area - he is proposing peel and stick flexible pvc molding which would match (kind of) the finish on the tub - supposedly used in damp locations

I’m concerned that if I accept and it peels off in a couple of months- will never see the guy again

has anyone any experience with this product- shoukd he use additional adhesive - any thoughts /comments appreciated

You paid for an unchipped tub. Make him provide that by repair or replacement, instead of half-assing it with peel'n'stick that probably won't.
