I have a Moen 3570 M-Pact Moentrol 1/2in CC Valve installed in a shower. The hot and cold are reversed. Spoke to Moen tech support and was advised to turn the stem so that the notch is facing down (6'O clock). I've read some places that the cartridge also needs to be turned 180 degrees.

Which one do I need to change?

There were no HC symbols in front of the cartridge. I figured it out by running it. I only had to change the stem by having its notched side facing upwards (12 O'clock position).

1) stop
2) balancing spool
3) cartridge, either 1200 or 1225
4) retainer clip

If you rotate the entire cartridge, you DO NOT DO ANYTHING to correct the problem. You just have to rotate the stem and you do NOT have to turn the water off to do that.
