I'm trying to get this faucet apart so I can replace the valve but I'm stuck with this metal end that I can't get off to save my life? So what do I do now?

They make handle pullers for that.
Remove the screw that holds the handle and then use this.

Thank you so much I was afraid I was doing something wrong. Any chance you would know what kind of cartridge I would need or am I gonna have to make 2 trips to hardware
