Moen Positemp handle now turns 360

I replaced my moen positemp shower handle as it broke.
I recall it used to go hot/cold left/right on a 180.
You pull it out to turn on water and push in to turn off.

After i put the new handle on, it now rotates 360.

What did i do wrong?

It's not a Posi-Temp cartridge if it's a push-pull.
Either a 1200 or a 1225 cartridge. The stop tube from the wall is smaller and the ridge on the top acts as a stop on rotation if you have the standard handle. The Posi-Temp handle may be two large to engage the stop.

Thanks. I assume that means I need to look for a different handle.
The reason i said posi temp is because that is the handle i bought; i matched up what i had with what i saw in the store.
So i need to look more closely and find a similar one that is not posi temp if i understand you correctly.

Yes, the older Moen uses the small stop tube, and also the Moentrol.
Posi-Temp used the large stop tube.

You could have a handle for a lavatory faucet, which LOOKS similar but has a different stop tube setup.

Luckily I didn't have much of a choice at Lowes; they had chateau and the positemp. The chateau worked.
