Good Evening - I have a Moen single handle bathroom faucet that looks like an Adler model. Age and date installed is unknown. Water is leaking into the bathroom vanity. As far as I can tell, the water is running down the copper lines that are permanently attached to the faucet. The amount of water leaking is small, but I am worried about rotting out the vanity. This home is on a well with very acid water ( PH of 6 ) Is this just a cartridge replacement or is the faucet corroded out ?

Thanks for any info :)

pretty much it is going to be a matter of observation and investigation. if surface investigation doesn't do it, then pulling the faucet may be in order. (gee, AI should be able to answer a question like that)

Job is done. A new faucet was $59 at Home Depot and the cartridge was $25. Bought the new faucet and swapped it out. My wife says I am a big spendthrift :) Reach4, thanks for posting. I live in a very old neighborhood with houses from the 1890 period and older. Most houses are on a well. Every house has been replumbed with CPVC after the copper corroded out. I will look into an acid neutralizer to help the water heater and fixtures last longer. Thanks to everyone who posted.

There are two main ways of acid neutralizing. One involves running the water through a bed of calcite, and the other is injecting a solution into the water with a metering pump. The metering pump does not increase hardness. One liquid to inject is called soda ash.

But switching to plastic has its merits, with regard to maintenance. And a lot of fixtures are plastic, especially the less expensive ones.
