I need to replace the cartridge in my tub shower. I know how to remove the lever using an Allen wrench but not sure how to get the diverter knob off. Does anyone know how to do it? I can get the plate off without doing that first. Thanks

I believe the diverter knob is part of the flat wall plate.
No, unfortunately it’s not. After removing the lever, I can only pull the plate so far as the diverter knob is there. I’m a novice at this. I’m afraid I have to some how disconnect the entire diverter from behind the wall but haven’t attempted that yet.
