Merging Room moldings french door with new laminate flooring types

Hi I have two rooms Kitchen and den with same floor other rooms including den have the Thick modings around entrances carmel in color I want to restain and keep wood finish But the floor adjoining kitchen and den is ratty looking so i want to put in a new transition laminate flooring..need ideas

A picture or two of what you are working with might elicit some useful responses...it's a little hard to envision what you have. Then, you and your significant other are the ones you have to please, not some annonymous response from the internet. BTW, I grew up nearby - in Spencerport.
