Hello,

I have a low-use shower faucet that has a problem where the hot side pressure is extremely low. The faucet is in the basement on the other side of the wall from the hot water heater so there is only a few feet of pipe we're dealing with here. The rest of the house is fine. Here's what I have done.

1. Pulled the Moen cartridge and ran the line without the cartridge and it seemed like a lot of water came out when I turned the water main back on.
2. Replaced the Moen cartridge

I am kind of stuck here. It can't be the head or the line to the head because the cold side seems to have good pressure. If hot water came out of the opening fine without the cartridge then the lines behind the valve are fine. Any ideas?

Thanks!
Terry

It sounds like restriction on the hot side between the cartridge and the spout. Try backflushing. Turn off the hot at the water heater, pull the hot cartridge, cover the end of the spout with your thumb and turn on the cold slowly.
