I reach water at 22.5' in well with 2" pipe (pipe ends 15" above ground). We wrongly added a section of pipe next last year so our well is 39' deep and we're getting air in the line. At that depth, will we still draw air (have a 2 hp pump)? I'm thinking about dropping the pump 8-10' but worried about still getting air in the lines. Could there be a leak in a joint or is the depth the factor?... Also, I'll be pulling up a section of pipe and removing it when I drop the pump.

I've read this a few times and I'm still not sure of the problem, I guess I don't understand the way it's being described. Could you try to clarify with some more information, thank you.

2 Questions

Sorry, I'm a little ADD (self-diagnosis). Let me try it again...

1. Will I get air in the lines and low pressure because my well is too deep (39' well) but reach water at (22.5')?

2. If #1 is correct, I'm thinking of dropping my pump 8-10' b/c water level is so low (22.5') and raising my point. Will this correct the air and pressure problem?

If I am reading your post right. You are saying you drove the well past the good /better producing sand, and are getting air in the line when the pump is running.
It sounds like the well is caveatting at the lower sand.

In you case it would be better to raise the casing back up to the sand at 22'. and set the pump as low as you can. That may stop the air problem. It all depends on how much water is at 22', and how much the pump is designed to pump.

If I read the post correctly.
