My master shower water pressure dropped suddenly. Coincidentally, it happened after my water softener ran out of salt and I replaced it (don't know if connected). 1st, cleaned shower head (looked like small whitish hard granules were plugging the inflow to the head). Didn't fix it much. Then, replaced the shower handle cartridge. Seemed to be all better for a day. Now, back to same weak pressure. Tub faucet in master bath (separate from shower) runs well but spits out some of the same whitish granular debris I found plugging the shower head (what is this stuff?). Rest of house seems unaffected. I've visually inspected the pipes in the crawl space and they all look fine. I'm absolutely stumped. Any help would be appreciated.

OK, new input. Isolated problem to the hot water supply line for that shower only. Copper. Acts like the supply line is partly obstructed. Spits out small whitish granules (? mineral deposits) that clog shower head. Do you think the inside of the hot water supply line for that shower is somehow corroded (mineral deposits) and showering pieces of debris through the shower, obstructing the head. How would it get corroded and how do you fix it? Thanks.

Take the showerhead off, then turn the water on...that should purge the loose crap in the lines. Shutting the water off, then on again can dislodge all sorts of crud in the pipes.
