This little pig was upstairs on the second floor and had ground through the plastic pan and leaked all over the ladies kitchen area down stairs...
It would not drain so I had to siphon off the unit from the hot line on top
I heard a clunk when I took it out so I knew it was full of indiana hard water its a 2001 Smith 40 gallon and the thermostat is buried about 4 inched deep in lime...... It probably weighed about 300.. I told the owner that she is probably gonna save 20 dollars a month on her gas bill with the new heater..

Everyone would like to see a picture of the thermostat/gas valve.

I still have the water heater in the junk pile... its just the common robert shaw unit you see all the time ... The probe is buried
about 4 inches down in that lime... you can see the dip tube is buried too...

Fess up, Mark. It took four packs of blades to cut that fucker open.

That one blade did the job.... Its a diablo cast iron cutting blade.....
I had used it to cut off a cast iron stack first and it was slightly used..
it cut through the cast stack like it was butter and only dulled it a little
then I cut that thing open and it was pretty much spent ..... most of the
teeth were dulled ...

Those blades cost 15 bucks each but are well worth the money spent
