I heat with oil and have a steel 275 gallon tank in my garage. I have lived here 25 years and the tank has 96 in the serial number. My best guess is the tank is 30 years old. The tank is primered and has no visible corrosion on the outside. I am worried about internal corrosion causing a fuel oil leak. Does anyone have a feel for how long indoor fuel oil tanks last?
It should be easy for me to swap out since the garage door is right there. I have a pump for the fuel oil, just need to get 5 used drums to hold the fuel temporarily. Thanks in advance for any info.
