I have a 1993 American Standard toilet. It is leaking at the fill valve. (I did a dye test). I replaced the flapper. I drop some red dye in the tank last night. After an hour, no leak. This morning bowl was light pink, which is much improved over the old flapper. How do I get it to never leak? Do I need to replace the entire fill valve to get to no leaks?

Maybe. They have some kits with glue-on new seats.

If you feel the seat with a finger, is it smooth? Maybe there is something suck three.

Replacing the toilet is not as hard as you may think. 1993 was in a low point, where flush volumes had been require to drop to 1.6 gpf, but the toilet makers had not figured out how to make that work well.

I’m going to replace the toilet. Thing is it’s almond and so is my vanity top. I think if I replace the toilet it should be white because it’s more in style —not that I give two shits. If the toilet is white then I’ll need to replace the vanity top. And then the spending spiral begins. Next the vanity and faucet. Ugh.
