I cut the hot and cold water inlet/outlet pipes when I removed my leaking hot water heater. While I'm waiting to install the new heater, water continues to drip out of the cut hot water pipe. I've opened all the hot water sink valves but it still leaks. Any reason why this would be?

Thanks

Open the cold water valves as well assuming you turned off the main.

If the dripping is not slowing with time, try turning off the hot stop valves at each sink and the tub.

It can take a while to drain down. And anytime you use a single handle faucet it can cross over and into the hot side.
Thanks Terry. It's been a couple of days as I wait for the new heater. It must be the single handle in the kitchen!

I shut off all of the sink hot water valves. Still dripping. I'm thinking it must be the shower valves? Anyway, the new tank is here so I'll just shut off the main and install the new tank. Thanks again everyone.
