I am getting a drip in my basement from the shower/tub above. I have determined from where in the shower valve assembly it is coming. See the Part No. 3. I have determined that water bouncing off the person in the shower is hitting on the Sleeve, making its way to the end of the sleeve, and making its way back down the sleeve and dropping off whatever is behind the plate and getting into the basement. I have eliminated everything else over the course of days. Is it possible the installer (from 2008) didn't install something correctly behind the plate? Below is a pic of the exploded parts view from Hansgrohe and I've also included the link to the actual parts manual.

I have even cut a piece of foam backer rod to act as an O-ring of sorts and wrapped it around the to Part No. 1 and pushed inside the sleeve. That stops it. I'm simply wanting to know what went wrong with the original installation because I shouldn't to rely on a part not shown the diagram to keep this thing from leaking.
