I am nearly complete with a shower remodel (shower only, no tub). I had a plumber remove the old and install a new shower valve body and cartridge. It is a Kohler model K-8304. Here is a link to the product page and instructions:

https://www.us.kohler.com/us/UNIVERSAL-RITE-TEMP-PB-VALVE-KIT/productDetail/valves/1071592.htm

The plumber installed the cartridge and the stops, which are currently in the closed position, and the water supply is turned on to the shower.

I am confused about the order of the final steps of flushing/testing/temp adjustment. The two different sets of instructions don't seem to make sense together, at least not to me! But then I am just DIYer.

And assuming I get all of this figured out, are the stops supposed to remain open when this is all done?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The water needs to be on for the temperature adjustment. I have not flushed one of these yet. Do I ever flush them anyway. I'm guessing no.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is a little different than the photo you added above. Se e picture below. The two stops on either side of the valve (brass ringed circles) are the crux of my confusion. Not sure if these are supposed to remain in the open position for the final configuration.
