Kohler Canister flush valve

My Kohler piston valve will not stay up long enough to allow water to fill the bowl to flush.

Any help?

-replaced the piston valve
-replaced the fill valve
-raised the water level

I find that toilet to be the worst one I've ever dealt with. You have to hold the handle down for a good flush
