I’m adding a 3pc bathroom in a basement below a kitchen - kitchen has a sink and dishwasher.
Right now there is an old 1.5” copper drain servicing the kitchen that ties into the building drain below the basement slab.
I plan to wet vent my new shower and WC using the lav (the lav will have a new vent running out to the roof)
Can I tie the kitchen drain in upstream of the wet vent or does it have to re route to be downstream. Basically A or B in my attached sketch?
Thanks

Here’s my sketch

Layout (A) is certainly fine. Layout (B) is not allowed by any US plumbing code I am aware of. I seem to recall, however, that Canada's plumbing code (or Ontario's?) has a limited allowance for an unassociated drain to flow through a bathroom wet vent. Not sure if it can join at the upstream end as shown, or if the allowance is only for the drain to join after the wet vent itself joins (the lav drain). You'll have to find your applicable plumbing code and read the section on wet vents.

Cheers, Wayne
