I remodeled a kitchen using Ikea cabinets.
The drawers don't have wood sides and dovetails, but the hardware is all Blum (very good quality). In my case the doors and drawer fronts are solid wood (floating panels were 1/4" ply, which is good). You get quality and value, but unfortunately it lacks the snob appeal.

I got fast building them up, but I used a narrow crown stapler to attach the backs - forget putting in 30 little brad nails one at a time, I'm not a masochist.

It's an extremely well engineered system.

Here's some pics if you're interested.

I'm looking to remodel my kitchen and I'm looking for some help / advice. I looked at the Kraftmaid cabinets at the local home improvement store. The ones with all ply sides and dovetail drawers seemed to be of good quality. Any opinions? I'm in the Military and can't really afford custom built cabinets. The KraftMaid are stretching my budget as it is.

Is there a way for a DIYer to get wholesale prices on good cabinets? I understand that 70% of the cost of these cabinets is mark-up. Everybody needs to make a buck, but that's a little rediculous.
