it seems like the water tastes salty during the regeneration period. It could be slightly afterwards. Do you think it’s not flushing long enough or properly.

I had a tech from a dealer come out and he just said some of the seals looked worn and replaced them.

Kinetico softeners are typically twin tank units which perform as two independant softeners with one common control valve. The alternate tank is intended to take over delivery of soft water to the home once the initial tank capacity is depleted and regeneration is needed.

If there is salty brine leakage from the tank undergoing regeneration into the alternate tank which is on-line or into the outlet to the house, that would seem to signify an issue with the control valve. If the salty taste is from the alternate tank which just came on-line, that may signify inadequate resin rinsing.

Kinetico softeners are turbine driven with the settings controlled by a pre-configured disk which cannot be modified but can be only replaced to change the program. If the salty taste wasn't occuring previously but suddenly started, that too would seem to signify an issue with the control valve.

Suggest before doing anything else, check the drain connection and entire drain tubing to ensure there is no restrictions which could be reducing flow to drain.
