Hello - Long time lurker and finally joined my model 60 is giving me fits. Seems it works fine for a bit nice soft water - then out of nowhere I can taste the hard water. After testing I can see it's still being somewhat treated (hardness is cut if half versus directly from pressure tank)so I feel like it's mixing with untreated water . It seems to cycle as usual seems to be no problems there. As all have noted not a lot of instructions online and even noticed online market place has a guy in the UK who sells some parts and a video but I have no idea if that will fix my issue. Any thoughts on what to look for even I open it up?

If you can detect that the hardness seems to occur when it has been a longer period since regen, it could be you need to set the softener for harder water.

It could be the resin need replacement, and does not soften as long. Resin deteriorates with time on city water.

Two easy things to check...
1. Make sure there are no leaks in the house (dripping faucets or the main culprit....toilet fill valves that don't shut off completely) Water being used at less than .5gpm can't be metered but is still being softened. This can cause hard water even if the softener is functioning properly.
2. Make sure no water is dripping from the softener drain line while in service. As above the water is being softened and dumped down the drain rather than being metered. The main causes for this is debris or drain valves and control valves in the level 4. There are several other causes but it can literally be any other part or combination of parts. Kineticos are great when they work but a pain to service sometimes. (Did it for 11 years before opening my own business)

If the unit is functioning properly then try running a water softener product in it.
There are several out there that remove build up on your resin beads.
When the beads are coated then they need to be stripped so they can perform properly again.
Use your favorite search engine to locate an appropriate product.

Good luck!
