Unit is about 20 yo. Has operated fine. I change filters and use iron out regularly.
Today, the unit appeared to go into regeneration mode, and it started making a LOUD noise that sounded like a hammer drill. I rushed downstairs to feel the head (valve) unit vibrating. I shut off flow via an upstream valve. Allowed it to die out and stop flowing. Opened the valve back-up slowly. Regen flow stated backup without issue.
I am assuming something may be worn in the metering head. Any clues? Do rebuild kits have the parts that might be wearing?
I have been contemplating redoing the bed, this might force my hand.
