I have a Kenmore 3500 that’s about 7 to 11 years old. After running out of salt 2 weeks ago I filled it back up, regened several times, no soft water. I cleaned the venturi <sp> and filter…which didn’t need it then ran a 10 dollar bottle of resin cleaner… same result. Everything seems to be operating fine, except the end result, soft water.

Would it be worthwhile replacing the resin or should I replace the whole unit. I was looking at a Fleck 48k unit at $600 for my 1400 sq ft, 2 bath 4 person home.

Thoughts?

Thanks, Rick

The best thing that you can do with that brand softener .......... replace it! If you got 7 to 11 years out of it I think you should be more than happy and move on. Make sure that you pull a raw water sample and have it tested before you replace anything.
