I am trying to learn about my furnace. I have this RUUD furnace in a place we just moved to, I think the furnace is from 2016.
We have an intake air return in the hallway we change out the filter for. The filter looks as clean as it went in when I swap it every 10 weeks.
I was looking around trying to learn a bit about this system I have no idea how to maintain or operate it.
Any chance there is a larger box filter inside this unit? I want to make sure I am changing out all the filters. It is operating just fine, I want to be proactive rather than waiting for something to go wrong and scramble.

Maybe once was likely it is a filter box but, in fifty years I've never seen filters on walls/ceilings plus a box at the furnace.
Too much resistance would occur from double filter locations. If it is a filter box, it normally would have a knob so that the door can be pulled off readily.
But it does look like right location for a downflow furnace.

It looks like there might be a screw on the left edge of that panel that has the label. If that is a an openable panel, I would expect two screws on the left edge.

I see from the close up that it has two insert tabs at the right side sheet metal, which is near identical to the BNP (Bryant/Carrier/Payne) filter box that comes as a knock-down assembly. With those, the removable panel has a knurled screw knob on the side that is buried in the sheetrock on the left. Dig out some sheetrock to reveal it all.

Looks to me like maybe you just pull on that handle formed from a folded up edge of the front cover, the handle which half covered with drywall compound. But that does suggest the drywall installation may have blocked the cover somewhat, so be prepared for some drywall modification if it won't come out as is.

Cheers, Wayne
